Insects avoid winter by digging down: Americans catch up

Although New Zealand researchers have published on this topic for years its now news in Delaware.

Insects have the same instinct to hunker down on a nippy morning. White grubs, for example, usually live an inch or two below the surface, but when it's cold, they dig to 6 inches or deeper.
