And even more on the same sad topic:  A Japanese chef who makes delicious treats from creepy crawlies has decided to share his secrets and pen a "how to cook insects" bible.

 The chef is Yoichi Uchiyama - Japan's maverick gourmet  who shuns the traditional vegetable markets and speciality delicatessens.  He is a man on a mission and his destination is a little pet shop on the far side of Tokyo.

Among the barking puppies and pet pythons there is a culinary treasure trove to be unearthed.

Fat, white larvae twist and turn in a bucket of sawdust. Chirping crickets jig around in a glass cage filled with old newspapers.

The prize ingredient - newly imported Argentine cockroaches.
