Society for Conservation Biology Oceania (formerly Australasia) Section Conference30 November - 3 December 2009
Stanley Burbury Theatre, University of Tasmania, Hobart, Tasmania
http://www.cdesign.com.au/scboceania2009/This year, the Society for Conservation Biology Australasian Section Meeting will be held in Hobart, Tasmania and is expected to attract 300 delegates. This will be the second Australasian section meeting, following the extremely successful meeting in Sydney in 2007. Since the Sydney meeting, the need to re-evaluate our management of biodiversity in the light of rapid global change has become even clearer. On behalf of the Organising Committee I would therefore like to invite to Hobart researchers, managers, policy-makers and students in all areas of conservation biology to discuss these issues and set priorities for future research and action.
The theme of the meeting will be: "Managing Biodiversity in a Time of Global Change". The meeting will address this theme across a full range of Australasian ecosystems, including terrestrial, freshwater marine and Antarctic ecosystems.
