Great Barrier Island kaka and a macadamia orchard .................... not a good mix.
Kaka are destroying (cracking open and eating macadamia nuts) someone's livelihood.
Other than the usual viticulture deterrents which habituation occurs fairly rapidly (kind of like an IQ test for birds) is there any other suggestion to keep kaka away?
I think a falcon would also be looked at as a novelty toy ??
Do you know of any Australian contacts that maybe of assistance ??
Personally yes it is what you get when you mix wildlife with humans, but it is another thing telling someone who relies on an orchard to put food on the family table.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated
