South Island Whio interest group get together?

I was interested in The Press article today, commenting on the continued success of several West Coast catchment Whio recovery projects, and the (new) partnership of DOC and Solid Energy.
I have, also today, been contacted by the Orari Recovery Group, keen to catch up and discuss our mutual projects, methods and goals.
As I'm a new member to this forum, I wonder if there is a South Island Whio interest group that could get together - periodically - to compare notes and progress, rather like the annual Kiwi Hui presently being held in Queenstown? There do seem to be a variety of independent parties undertaking great work outside of DOC, and in my view it would help to periodically chew the fat, so to speak.
Thoughts...ideas?
