« on: January 20, 2010, 07:53:49 AM »
There are now several ways of staying up to date with the forum without actually visiting the site.
  • RSS (Real Simple Syndication)
  • Twitter
  • Email digest
RSS feeds and readers
A quick way to stay abreast of the latest posts on this site (or any other) is to subscribe to the RSS feed.  This provides a quick summary of the latest posts.  The best way to read RSS feeds is to use a free online newsreader such as Google Newsreader www.google.co.nz/reader

If you don't know where to start with newsreaders - here's a quick youtube video introduction

To actually subscribe to the RSS feed, just copy the link below and paste into the "Add subscription" box in Google Reader;
Alternatively, clicking on the link will take you to the Feedburner subscribe page - just select your newsreader of choice and you're done.

Note that you may subscribe to RSS feeds on any website that displays the orange icon.  Your newsreader will aggregate all the feeds and enable you to quickly scan the latest items.

Twitter
Another option is to follow us on Twitter.  Aside from the Twitter web page itself there numerous applications for receiving twitter feeds - I use a Google gadget to display my feeds in a Google desktop sidebar, keeping up with the latest posts in a glance.
Email
If that's all too hard, there there's the email option.  Click on the link below and you can subscribe to a daily email digest of posts to the forum.
