Controlling pests and predators in coastal restoration projects
« on: February 02, 2010, 05:17:21 AM »
Hi All,

I have agreed to do a presentation to the Dunes Trust Conference in early March on the above topic. I have some experience in coastal reveg from my days in Dunedin and we used the standard techniques of rabbit control prior to planting and netting protectors reasonably successfully but with not too much success with repellents. I am aware that technologies are changing in predator control and wondered if anyone has any startling new or improved techniques for rabbit/hare and possum control in coastal restoration situations.

Any contributions gratefully accepted (including photos if you have them) and will be acknowledged as part of the talk.

many thanks

Hi All,

I received a few responses to this request - Thanks to those who gave me info. I have already given a copy of the power point presentation to someone for their use in similar situations and I am happy to supply a copy to anyone else to use or adapt.

Cheers,  Dean
