Wanted: A ranking system for number of posts made
« on: August 13, 2008, 05:19:29 PM »
To the left of any post you'll see the name of the member who wrote it, some details from their profile (if any were entered) and their "rank" which is based on the number of posts made.

The standard ranking system is;
  • Newbie         0-49 posts
  • Jr. Member        50-99
  • Full Member     100-249
  • Sr. Member      250-499
  • Hero Member   500+

Now in my opinion the rank names are a bit on the boring side, but I can't think of a suitable scheme.  For the Penguin Forum I have the ranks of;
  • Fresh egg
  • Hatchling
  • Fledgling
  • Juvenile
  • Adult penguin

So, how about a few suggestions for a ranking scheme?

I liked the food web idea and while I did contemplate assigning the rank "Pond scum" to those that haven't made a post yet ;-) I eventually went for;

Plankton
Krill
Penguin
Leopard seal
Orca

As most of the board is terrestrial and the only reference to penguins sends you to another board all together think you should have another go. ;D

OK, terrestrial it is.  I wanted something that involved NZ species (and not introduced ones) and had at least 5 steps.  I got a bit stumped at 4 levels but after receiving technical advice from Chris Green I've gone for the following scheme we now have;

Carrion <5 posts
Weta - 5-50 posts
Spider - 50-100 posts
Skink - 100-250 posts
Kingfisher - 250-500
Falcon 500+ posts

So, if you don't like the rank you've been assigned - get posting!

Ok we'll give this one a go.
I note that I'm still ranked as a weta even though i'm meant to be a spider.

when do you distribute the lapel badges?

Was that a gratuitous post in an attempt to get a higher rank?
